The election took place on Tuesday in Nakuru.
Bomet KNUT executive secretary Malel Lang’at is the new national vice-chairman, stepping in to fill the position left vacant by the late Stanley Mutai.
He was declared the winner after his sole opponent, Boniface Tenai, stepped aside in his favour.

Dan Aloo, who has been the Kilindini KNUT executive secretary, was elected the third national trustee, a post previously held by Fred Nguma who joined the County Government.
Collins Oyuu, the secretary-general, national chairman Patrick Karinga, and second woman representative Mercy Ndung’u were present during the election.
Other national leaders of the union are Hebon Otieno and James Ndiku who are the deputy secretary-general and treasurer respectively.
Mr Oyuu was elected unoppsed to replace Wilson Sossion in a poll conducted on June 26, 2021 to become the union’s seventh SG. Before assuming the role, Mr Oyuu was acting as the national chairman.
By the time Mr Oyuu was assuming the powerful role, KNUT’s membership had dropped from an average 200,000 to a paltry 15,000, cutting its monthly collections from Sh141 million to Sh12 million.
As the new leaders come into office, among other goals the union’s top brass will be expected to form a strong solidarity front as they fight to return KNUT to its former glory.
