KUCCPS opens portal for first courses revision

Apply for poly, university courses before national exams, says KUCCPS

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has opened its portal for a new round of course applications in a first round of revision.

KUCCPS has announced provisional placements for the February/March applications that it says candidates can monitor through their accounts on the placement agency’s website.

Running upto April 4, the revision window is open for applicants who have not secured courses in the first application and those who did not apply at all.

For university programmes, only those who sat for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination last year can apply. However courses in TVET institutions, Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs), and the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) are open to those who sat for the Form Four exam not earlier than the year 2000.

The revision comes after the initial application opened in February and closed on March 4 after painstaking process that saw the Education ministry form a technical team to review the hiccups that kept hundreds of thousands guessing for weeks.

It is possible that a number of potential applicants were locked out by the downtime and payment nightmare linked to the eCitizen migration.

About one million candidates sat for the exam, but more 200,000 scored at least a C+, giving them room to apply for university programmes.

KUCCPS has recently lamented that the number of candidates applying for artisan, certificate and diploma courses is a drop in the ocean at a time the government has assured all who sat for KCSE for a chance in TVETs, vocational training centres and national polytechnics.
