The government has revoked the placement of another 306 nursing interns after they were found to be unqualified for posting.
This brings the total number of those barred from placements to 348 following the earlier dropping of 42 others on July 21.
In a statement issued on July 30, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale said 306 interns were dropped because they were yet to graduate, meaning they did not meet the minimum threshold.
“Following a review of the 2,098 pre-interns posted on July 1, 2025, the Ministry has established that 306 individuals were not qualified for internship posting as they had not yet graduated,” Duale said.
All affected internship centres have been informed of the development, the CS said.
Kenyatta University (KU) had the biggest number of cancellations at 22. Daystar University had seven, Methodist University (3), while Maasai Maara, Umma, and Eldoret-based Baraton University had two each.
Kakamega-based Masinde Muliro University, Embu University, Karatina University, and Mount Kenya University had one each cancelled.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has announced that 316 students who had earlier been omitted from the initial pre-internship list were now eligible for posting. Their letters of posting will be ready from August 1 at Afya House in Nairobi.
